MOVIE NEWS

New footage from the Watchmen was shown at the Scream Awards.



In other Watchmen news, a new poster has been released.



Elizabeth banks told CHUD that the only way she will return as Betty Brant in Spider-Man 4 & 5 is if the role is bigger than it was in the past.

VIDEO GAME NEWS

Zombie virus to be in World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King? According to Joystiq, yes, and it is a contain and intentional reworking of the blood plague from 2005.

Lucasarts and Bioware have announced Star Wars: The Old Republic, a new Star Wars MMORPG (Massively Multi-player Online Role Playing Game). At this point and time there has been no say on what will happen to Star Wars Galaxies. via Joystiq

Capcom has stated that Street Fighter IV will come out this winter. via Joystiq

Nintendo of Japan has released a a video showing the new interface of the DSi.

MOVIE NEWS

President of DC Comics, Paul Levitz, revealed in an interview with Latino Review that Brandon Routh will be reprising the role of Clark Kent/Superman in the next Superman movie,on which more will be announced after Warner Bros. signs Christopher Nolan to direct Batman 3 (which they hope to release in summer 2011).

Just Jared has the first pictures of Robert Downey Jr. as the title character in the upcoming Sherlock Holmes film.

Kirsten Dunst has stated, in an interview with MTV, that she will be reprising her role of Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man 4 and mostly likely Spider-Man 5.

MOVIE NEWS

Sony has signed Tobey Maguire and Sam Raimi for Spider-Man 4 & 5 which they are planning to shoot back to back. Kirsten Dunst at this point in time is not signed on for the sequels but Sony hopes to get her. via Deadline Hollywood.

Micheal Caine may have possibly confirmed the rumors that Johnney Depp will be playing the Riddler and Phillip Seymour Hoffman will be playing the Peguin in the second Batman Begins sequel in an interview with MTV promoting his new movie Is There Anybody There?.

In one of the strangest pieces of movie news ever, Will Smith may be Captian America? That is what Derek Luke has said in an interview with MTV promoting The Miricle at St. Anna.

According to Latino Review, Russel Crowe may be playing Professor Moriarty in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes movie. For those of you who do not read Sherlock Holmes, Moriarty was Sherlock's main antagonist, he was the Lex Luthor to Holmes' Superman.

First up, Superhero Hype is reporting the villain for the Transformers sequel has been revealed to be The Fallen, a transformer who works for Unicron and is on fire. Picture below.

Next up, Superhero Flix has the trailer for Hulk vs. Thor, which is the second part to the Hulk Vs. animated movie.



And finally, Moviefone is the trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Geek News for Monday June 23, 2008

It has been 19 days since I posted the first and only Geek News post on this blog so I thought I'd do one. So without any further or do here is the Geek News for Monday June 23, 2008.

First up The Bad and the Ugly has some some spoilerish pictures of the Heroes Season 3 premiere.

And also in superhero teleivsion news, Kryptonsite has the press release from The CW of the casting of Davis Bloome *cough* Doomsday *cough* and Tess. Davis Bloome will be played by Sam Witwer and Tess Mercer will be played by Cassidy Freeman. Kryptonsite is also reporting that the title for Smallville Season 8 premiere will be Odyssesy.

Next, Louis Leterrier, the director of the Incredible Hulk, told MTV that he wants the fans to choose between the Leader and Doc Samson for the villian of the sequel to The Incredible Hulk.

And also in Marvel movie news the Los Angeles Times is reporting that Spider-Man producer, Laura Ziskin, has said that Spider-Man 4 will be out in 2011. At this it is unknown if Sam Raimi, Tobey Maguire, or any of the cast member will be returning.

And in other superhero movie news, there is a very big Dark Knight spoiler in the video on whysoserious.com/myhero.

And finally, some sad news, comedian George Carlin has died at the age of 71. Carlin was best known for his 7 dirty word routine. R.I.P George Carlin.
