MOVIE NEWS

Jimmy Hayward, according to The Hollywood Reporter, has been hired to direct the film based on the DC Comics character Jonah Hex.

Shazam, the planned movie based on the DC Comics' Captain Marvel, has been shelved according to the the writer, John August, on his blog.

20th Century Fox and Warner Bros. have decided to let Judge Feess decide whether or not Watchmen will be released on March 6th. Judge Feess will make his decision on January 20th. via The Los Angeles Times

MOVIE NEWS

Marvel may have cast Eva Longoria as Wasp in the upcoming Avengers movie (due out in July 2011). She was seen coming out of Marvel carying a stack of comic book and on top was an Avengers issue. via the LA Times.


Moviehole is reporting that David Boreanaz maybe playing Hal Jordan (the Silver Age Green Lantern) in the upcoming Green Lantern movie (due in 2010).

CW has released a clip from this week's Smallville, the Season 8 premiere.



G4 has released a trailer for their upcoming Spaceballs: The Animated Series, due to premiere on September 21.

WOW Insider has revealed what is coming with the collectors edition of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, which is to be released on November 13.

MOVIE NEWS

It appears as though Micheal Caine was mistaken when he told MTV about the villains for the third Batman movie or at least the part about Phillip Seymour Hoffman being the Penguin as Mr. Hoffman told MTV that he has not even talked to Christopher Nolan or Warner Bros. about the role.

And while on the subject of false rumors from yesterday, Marvel has come out and said that they have never even thought about casting Will Smith as Captain America. via Slashfilm

Slashfilm has found out why William Shatner will not be in the eleventh Star Trek,and that reason is basically Shatner loves Shatner and will not do cameos.

Apple announced quite a few things today so lets get started, iTunes 8 has been released and includes everything Kevin Rose said it would, NBC shows are back on iTunes, all TV shows can now be downloaded in HD for an extra dollar (via Engadget), Apple will put in-ear ear phones out for sale in October for $79 (via Engadget), the new ipod nano looks just like the picture Kevin leaked and comes in every color of the rainbow plus pink (via Engadget), the shuffle is also getting new colors (via Engadget), and finally the ipod classic will now only come in a 120 GB version (via Engadget).

MOVIE NEWS

Columbia pictures has hired Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg, both are writers of The Office (American version), to write Ghostbusters 3. For those of you who have not yet seen the original two yet you can watch them here. via Slashfilm.

The trial to see who owns the rights to produce the Watchmen movie will be held on January 6 according to Variety.

New pictures of the Dragonball movie have been released and contain the first look at Piccolo, picture below. via DBthemovie.


During an interview for his new movie, Bangkok Dangerous, Nic Cage revealed that Ghost Rider 2 is in development and will have Ghost Rider in Europe. via Superhero Hype.

Aaron Eckhart revealed during an interview with Superhero Hype that Two-Face did die in The Dark Knight and will not return in the sequel. I still believe that they will have Two-Face come back in a future film somewhere down the line and he has just been in Arhkam this whole time.
